Include operating temperature range, heating and cooling rates, dwell time, process gases, pressure and any cleaning chemicals. Thermal cycling can create stress, especially when components have sharp corners, abrupt changes in section or unsupported spans. Rounded transitions and consistent wall thickness can help reduce local stress concentrations, subject to the furnace design and load requirements.

Material choice should be evaluated against the complete process. SiC components are used in wafer-processing equipment where thermal stability, mechanical support and chemical exposure are relevant considerations. However, SiC grades and manufacturing routes differ. The buyer should identify whether the part contacts wafers directly, operates in a corrosive atmosphere, or must meet specific contamination limits. These details help determine whether a particular grade and finish are suitable.

For wafer-contact surfaces, specify slot width, contact geometry, edge condition and surface finish. Tight clearances may improve positioning but can make loading more sensitive to wafer tolerances and thermal expansion. Provide the wafer thickness range and any bow or warp assumptions used in the equipment design.

Maintenance and service life should be included in the evaluation. Ask how the component will be inspected for wear, chipping, deposits or dimensional change. If a component is being replaced, document the failure location and service history. A photograph of the installed part, together with the original drawing, can reveal whether the issue relates to material selection, geometry, loading or process conditions.

A complete RFQ should include the furnace model or interface drawing, wafer diameter and quantity, component dimensions, process atmosphere, temperature profile, material requirements and inspection criteria. Clear process information helps the supplier assess whether a standard boat or paddle can be adapted or whether a custom design is needed.

Wafer boats and cantilever paddles support wafers during loading, unloading and thermal processing.
